LAUREN DUFFIE

Lauren Duffie is a Charleston-based theatrical lighting designer. 

She has designed lighting for hundreds of productions, ranging from Broadway and London’s Off–West End to international festivals and regional stages. She has designed and traveled with 13 National Tours, lit dozens of concerts with artists such as Billy Idol and Keith Urban, and held design residencies at the late Bottom Line Cabaret (NYC), Etcetera Theatre (London), JENA Company (NYC), and PURE Theatre (Charleston, SC). She has worked extensively for Riverside Theatre, Virginia Theatre Festival, SLANT Theatre Project, Encore National Tours, Classical Theatre of Harlem, New York City Fashion Week, CBGB, British MTV, VH1, Piccolo Spoleto Festival USA, and Kevin Bacon. 

Lauren is the Assistant Professor of Lighting Design in the Department of Theatre and Dance at College of Charleston.

Her research on equitable design practice, racial bias in design technology, and Cognitive Equity is featured through workshops as an Affiliate Faculty in Design at TIE, a leading international organization dedicated to teaching progressive practices for the stage.
